retro ceramics

top: canisters // left: square butterbox // right: jam pot
I can promise you that I never ever tire of mid-century and retro design! It will be an enduring life-long love for me. I love the simple, fun and colourful designs. Last year I bagged myself a lovely set of Hornsea Heirloom canisters from Good North on Etsy (who was kind enough to throw in a little milk jug too). I've recently been busy designing some patterns (all will be revealed later) heavily influenced by said items and in my research stumbled across this lovely Hornsea design called Springtime. Seems I will have to get my collecting hat on!

budget art display

There are hundreds of great art prints out there all looking for a home. Not only can collecting them be a costly business, but framing can certainly put an extra strain on our pockets. Here are some nifty and stylish ideas for hanging art on a shoestring.
on clipboards
brightly taped or with a simple bulldog clip
from wooden clothes hangers
or trouser hangers
or buy them cheap from a thrift store and give them a lick of paint!

A Collection A Day

Stumbled across some great blogs this morning, but this was my favourite by far. A Collection A Day is an ongoing project by Lisa Congdon, an artist and illustrator from San Francisco. The project spans exactly one year, from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010. On each of those 365 days, she will photograph, draw or paint one collection. Here is just a tiny snippet for your delectation.
