Stumbled across some great blogs this morning, but this was my favourite by far. A Collection A Day is an ongoing project by Lisa Congdon, an artist and illustrator from San Francisco. The project spans exactly one year, from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010. On each of those 365 days, she will photograph, draw or paint one collection. Here is just a tiny snippet for your delectation.

Maybe I'm feeling nostalgic for a rainy english days on the beach! A retro stripe inspired by deckchairs and beach huts.

You've got to be in it to win it!
I've just entered this competition on Spoonflower to design a fabric for the Boba 2G baby-carrier. The theme is nature and my pattern is made up of animal footprints - half-tribal, half decorative! (Click image to view nice and big!)
There's a prize of $500 up for grabs and the deadline is this Thursday (25 Feb), so if you're feeling inspired why not give it a go!

Spoonflower
I've started a new Spoonflower account for my ongoing fabric designs. Still very much a work-in-progress, but something I'm enjoying immensely.
Nothing is for sale yet as I have to get some test swatches done which could take a few weeks, but as soon as I have something available I will let you know. In the meantime, as always, I would love your feedback on what I'm doing :)

Patterns
I'm starting to develop some patterns from type elements. I think I will be exploring these at some length as designing patterns is one of my favourite things to do. These are for starters. Not too sure what I will do with them yet. Any suggestions? Would love your feedback on which ones work for you and which don't. Click on any image to view large.

Stumbled across the work of this very talented young lady this morning. Reminds me of William Morris. Just get a load of the detail!

Petit Collage
I'm loving these charming prints from Californian-based design team Petit Collage. They say "Petit Collage is a line of modern wall decor and accessories with a vintage twist for children and grownups alike."
Beauty in the mundane
Good morning and a happy 1st February to you. How time flies! I have been rooting around in my image library over the weekend... a HUGE collection of scans that I have collected over the years... and stumbled upon my collection of envelope security patterns! I love them! And it seems I'm not the only one. Creative types everywhere are seeing the beauty in these seemingly ordinary and usually unnoticed textures. Here's just a few examples of what people are doing.
